Bb. Pilipinas 2008 Winners

I just finished watching the Bb. Pilipinas 2008 Pageant. I really waited for it heehee! Anyway, here are the lucky winners:

Bb. Pilipinas – International / Bb. Pilipinas – Universe / Bb. Pilipinas – World

2nd Runner Up / 1st Runner Up

I thought Bb. Pilipinas – World won’t make it to the top 3 coz she wasn’t able to answer the question correctly. She was first asked by the host Paolo “Do you feel the pressure right now?” She confidently answered “No, I don’t feel any pressure right now” And the audience went cheering! She was then asked by one of the judges “What was the best role that your family played for this pageant?” She startled and almost answered the question in Tagalog with pauses in between. She first said “Well, my family is important… ayyyyy wait lang… eto… sorry this is my first pageant ever bcoz I’m only 17 years old. Sorry I said I don’t feel any pressure. Eto… *laughing in between* my pamily is important, thank you!” She was actually trying to say these words with an accent, I guess that’s what made her nervous. Well, she got 2 special awards before that – Best in Swimwear and Long Gown. I was really surprised when her name was announced last as Bb. Pilipinas – World.

My bet was the 1st Runner Up. She did it well. She was very confident during the Q & A portion. She also got 5 special awards, I just couldn’t remember them all. But those included Best in Make-up and Ms. PAL. I really thought she’d make it to the top 3.

I also like Bb. Pilipinas – Universe. She was relaxed when she answered the question. 2nd Runner Up was also good. She said that she’s sick and was confined the other day in St. Lukes, but she had no choice but to compete for tonight’s. Good she made it!

  1. i think you were not the only one who was surprised…everyone (even the hosts obviously) was surprised to hear that she won bb pilipinas world…i thought the last finalist would grab it and am sure the rest of the candidates were expecting it….if you noticed, the rest of the ladies went to the last finalist to console her…they thought she’d get it…she was the only one that spoke straight…

if i could have it my way, i would the last finalist for world, no. 7 for universe still and the 2nd runner for international, though the latter paused it was because she was being real about her emotions…

crazy screening committee…this year’s theme for bb pilipinas should be…all beauty less brain…

for sure manok na naman yan ng kung sino…

such a shame really….i have nothing against her but the pageant would be a good learning experience for her…but not the crown really…

there was no top 5 with final question…why? to not further the humiliation with the not so good responses from the finalists?

bb pilipinas has lost its glitter…they might just wanna make sure to improve it next year…or wrap it up…

  2. I had the same thought as yours, I thought the last finalist would be chosen for World, coz she answered the question confidently and everyone was cheering for her after that. I didn’t see the part where the girls were consoling her after World was called. I went to my room immediately right after she was called hehe!

I noticed that too! I thought there will be another set of questions for the top 5, but nothing…

Even Charlene kept on saying Bb. F-ilipinas wehehehe! Or maybe I misheard it?

  3. i’m not sure i heard right, did bb. pilipinas world actually say “my family… my family… oh my God!”? you could see the other finalists laughing at her while she was answering, and yet she still won a title! unbelievable!

Yeah, you heard it right, yung 2nd nga yung sabi nyang p-amily.

  6. My bet is 18 not only bec she’s a good friend of mine but bec. of her determination and discipline, beauty and intelligence wise, she also has it, she really just got a soft spot for family topics…
no.8 did well too! that’s why we were all shocked when Janina was crowned Bb. Pilipinas – World. By the way, when Janina “boasted” about her confidence, it wasnt an applaud, it was actually a mocking reactions from the crowd… (sorry, but I was one of the mockers)…Here’s the Q&A:

    Vivian tan: Good Evening
    Janina San Miguel: Good Evening
Vivian Tan: The question is, what role did your family play to you as candidate to Binibining Pilipinas?
Janina San Miguel: Well,my family’s role for me is so important bcoz there was the wa- they’re,they was the one who’s… very… Hahahaha…Oh I’m so sorry, Ahhmm…My pamily… My family… Oh my god.. I’m… Ok, I’m so sorry… I… I told you that I’m so confident… Eto, Ahhmm, Wait… Hahahaha, Ahmmm, Sorry guys because this was really my first pageant ever b’coz I’m only 17 years old and ahahaha I, I did not expect that I came from, I came from one of the taf 10. So.. But i said..dot My pamily is the most important persons in my life. thank you

    What a shame!

  7. We were there last night, everyone stood up, shouted, and booed her after her name was called as the Bb. Pilipinas world.. Lahat kami nagulat at nagtaka! I don’t know, siguro meron nakita ang mga judges na hindi natin nakita sa knya… (hmmm.. Ano kaya yun?!) hehe! 😀

  8. Ayun, yun yong saktong tanong at sagot nya, yung nasa comment ni NJ. It’s not that we are being too harsh on her, but cmon, much better pa sana kung si last finalist ang nanalo. Haaay! Or kung tinagalog sanang straight na lang ni Janina, I would understand na sya nanalo ng isa sa major awards, after all they were competing for a Bb. Pilipinas title.

    Oh well….

  9. The results of the Binibining Pilipinas 2008 was a joke. How can a dumb Janina won the World title? Well, what do you expect of having Dennis Trillo and Marian Rivera as judges? Do they know anything about beauty contests? For sure, our winners would come last in the international competition.

    If I were a judge:

Bb Pilipinas World should be the last finalist. I forgot her number
By Pilipinas Universe should be No. 3. She was both brainy and beautiful. Did you try to look at her face. She looks like a Miss Puerto Rico or Miss Venezuela. No. 18 would also come out a good winner.
By Pilipinas International- No. 2 was okay

  12. mitch, i only got to see this (from you tube – esp the q&a portion with janina) the other night. i posted something about it too. kaya lang backdated na. i am so outdated i know. i really pity her. it’s not her fault why she won. the judges decided it. and UE… must be a subject of ridicule too. shame on Philippines Beauty Pageant.
