Changing the look of any room can be quickly done by adding contrasting colors to the walls. The experts also say that you can make a room look smaller by painting one wall a darker shade, or you can install a huge mirror on the wall to make the room bigger. Indeed a great idea but choosing the right colors could also be an issue if you are not really good in it, not to forget the cost of mixed paint colors. So to make my home change its look once in a while, I do the mixing & matching of my decors.
I would normally pick a color contrasting to the main subject in that particular spot of the house and match it with a similar or lighter color. Photo above is my sofa with its dark geometric pattern cover, in grey and black. The sofa cover itself has its matching throw pillow cases but I wanted to give it a different touch this time so I picked a combination of grey and light blue throw pillow case, just because the owl pillow had a blue color on it. I love the warmth feeling it gives my eyes each time I look at it.
When it comes to bed covers and pillow cases, I mix and match deeper. If not identically matched, I go with the geometric patterns/prints, mostly in black and white.
You can never go wrong with black and white, whether plain or printed. These two colors just perfectly complement each other. Would you believe I got these pillow cases from the local market at Php25 each only? There’s this one regular market vendor every Thursday and Sunday who sells beautiful bed sheets and pillow cases. Bags of meat and veggies won’t stop me from dropping by there each time I go to the market. By hook or by crook, I got to buy a set. You see, decorating your home doesn’t have to be expensive, you just got to play with the colors and designs, and yeah with your mood sometimes haha!
I love the idea! Since we moved to our new home, I am looking for ways in order for our home to look decent whilst the mess of the kids. Will try to mix and match too! 🙂
I do love black and white because of its simplicity but then the patterns can make it oh so fancy!?
Ang awesome lang ng find mo sa market!?
It’s refreshing to see beautiful designs other than IKEA. We get a little lazy (little, ha!) decorating home. This tip will be real helpful when we go shopping to Divisoria when we’re home. Than you.
Great ideas and saves a lot! I like that own pillow 🙂
Did you made it?
Thanks! Ay no, I ordered it from Carol Lee, sa sister ni Crislyn. Bloggers din sila dati.
I always follow your design ideas and they look great! 🙂 You have an eye for design talaga. Wala akong tyaga, mostly coz of budget constraints and I don’t want to keep cleaning. Too much dust around here!
Thank you sis!
I’ve always had this love for designs talaga, sis. And due to budget constraints din minsan kaya nagsusuyod talaga ako sa palengke or hintay hintay sa sale hahaha!
