Transform Your Bedroom into a Den of Peace

Stepping into your bedroom should be a relaxing experience, knowing that you are in a place that you can unwind and shut yourself off from the stresses of modern life. But if you have fallen out of love with your bedroom, the effects won’t be nearly as positive. A comfortable bedroom environment has been shown to help you drift off to sleep and get the rest and recuperation that your body needs on a nightly basis. With this in mind, let’s take a look at a few techniques that you can use to create a more relaxing and comfortable bedroom.

Freshen Up the Room with a Lick of Paint Sometimes, the changes that you make to your bedroom don’t have to be any more complicated than a simple lick of paint. If the walls have started to look a little shabby, it may well be time to get your paintbrush out. Many people find it easier to go to sleep in a cool environment, so you can pick your colour scheme accordingly. Try going for something soothing like a subtle shade of blue or green.

Rethink Your Lighting The bedroom is the place that you should be able to go to escape from a world of bright lights. Try to keep the overhead lighting soothing, maybe by picking bulbs that don’t give off a light that is too blinding. Lamps are also important as they provide that sense of convenience so you can control the lighting without having to leave the comfort of your bed. Rooms that are too bright have been shown to negatively affect your sleep, so consider investing in a blackout blind if you find that too much light is seeping into your room.

A Comfortable Temperature One of the main things that you should be thinking about in your bedroom is that you don’t want it to be too hot or too cold. Colourful blankets and duvets look great, but you don’t want to pile up your bed too high with them or you may find it difficult to drift off. Many people find that a cool environment is easier to sleep in, so cooling devices such as Casablanca ceiling fans can help to maintain that ambient temperature that you are looking for.

Reconsider Your Decorations Big colourful wall art may have looked great when you first saw it, but in your bedroom, you want to avoid anything that may cause you to become overstimulated. Instead, try to keep your decoration simple so your mind can focus on single thing. Some family photos that remind you of happy times can help to provide that sense of comfort and security that you are looking for.

A Living Touch Consider bringing in some plants which can have a real cheering impact on the room, helping to visually lift the space and quite literally clear the air. Many houseplants don’t require a great deal of maintenance and upkeep, but they can give your mood a real boost.
