Designing your baby’s bedroom can be a fun project to tackle over the course of a weekend, but oftentimes we forget the little things that add nice touches to space, and more often than not, we wind up adding more stuff as the baby grows. However, wouldn’t it be nice to get at least most of the cool components out of the way instead of gradually improving the room over time? If you’re at a loss for inspiration and are looking for ideas that will spice up your baby’s bedroom, consider the following five tips first.
1. SleepSack A sleep sack is an excellent baby blanket alternative because it stays wrapped around your baby in a safer manner than a loose blanket. You also have the peace of mind of knowing that your little one won’t wind up rolling out of their blanket and being exposed to colder temps as a result. They’re also easy to take on and put off and they can be worn outside the bedroom for an easy transition into bedtime from other areas of the house.
2. Crib Mobile Crib mobiles are must-have accessories for every baby room because they keep your little one entertained while also stimulating their imagination. Plus, they help the baby fall asleep at night by creating a sort of hypnotic effect with a combination of swinging parts and music. In addition, you may want to add the Star Night Light mentioned below for a truly calming effect to help baby fall soundly asleep.
3. Star Night Light Many babies are afraid of the dark and so parents search for a night light that offers just enough light to keep the night terrors away, yet dim enough so as not to interfere with falling asleep. A star night light is amazing for that reason, but it also works in another, much more interesting way. These are 360° projectors that keep babies interested as they lie there dozily watching the different colored stars being projected to the ceiling and around the walls. They are so fascinating that babies soon forget mommy tucked them in and left the room.
4. Baby Monitor How many times a night do you find yourself peeking into baby’s bedroom to see if they are soundly asleep and if they are okay? If you say you don’t, everyone knows that isn’t true! There is nothing quite as distressing as having babies where you can’t see or hear them and so the latest range of baby monitors are often wireless webcams connected to your laptop or PC. Whether you are at home with the baby or there is a sitter for the evening, it’s comforting to know that you can check in as often as you’d like without disturbing either the baby or the sitter.
5. Play Yard Sometimes, babies start crying the moment they sense you are going into their nursery/bedroom. While it is suggested that you never put a child in timeout for a punishment in the bedroom, it can also be beneficial to let them play with their toys in their room. In this way, kids learn not to fear their room but think of it as a safe place. A play yard is a safe way to keep them away from dangers as they play, but the one thing you don’t want to do is leave them in there for extended periods or they will start associating their room as a playroom, and you don’t want that!
Throw in a Rocking Chair and You’ve Just Created the Best Baby Room EVER All the items above are great for keeping your baby busy, comfy, and secure while they’re in their bedroom, but why not add a rocking chair to give you a convenient place to rock the baby to sleep before putting that beautiful bundle of joy down to sleep in the crib? Now isn’t that the best baby room ever?
