Being an OFW is not easy. If you are lucky enough, you get to go home every 6 months. You are even luckier if the plane ticket is provided by your Employer and you’re one of the luckiest few people if your insurance is covered by the Company. Guess I am not that lucky during my time. I get to go home every 2 years but in a way luckier than others coz my plane ticket is shouldered by my Employer but never seen any insurance quotes delivered to them. Simply, we were not insured through them.
That is why I never failed to renew the OFW medical benefits we used to have those times. Though, I failed to continue paying my SSS and Philhealth and I so regret from neglecting it. I would have gotten some maternity benefits when I gave birth to Deye but since I didn’t pay any contributions during that period, am not getting any then.

A giant leap like this is such a challenging journey but indeed is rewarding. A few bumps along this whole journey did not stop me from being the best version of myself.
