As I was trying to recall the good and bad times I’ve had with my old friends, I realized that no matter how much we try to catch on some things up, it won’t ever be the same, as we were before…
“Some people come into our lives and quickly go. Others stay for a while and move our souls to dance. They awaken us to understanding, with the passing whisper of their wisdom. Some people make the sky more beautiful to gaze upon. They stay in our lives for awhile, leave footprints on our hearts, and we are never, ever the same.” – Anonymous
So why am I whining about this? My bestfriend is coming home this December, so we thought of having a mini reunion just for our “barkada” exclusively. An early Christmas party maybe before I leave again for a couple of months. That couple of months stay there might change my life as a while. I might or might not come back. That is why I want, as much as possible, to spend a quality time with them {I wish we could take one of those luxury vacations together with our families}. We don’t know when we’d get this chance again.
It’s been ages since we last gathered. We were never complete in the gatherings/reunions. I was away for more than 8 years. Two years ago, one left for the US. While one is already in the UK. Other one is never present. One seems like casted away, for what reason I don’t know. You know, different characters…Yet, we were happy. And hope to be happiers in the years to come, with whoever we will be for the rest of our lives.
We may never be the same as before, but there’s one thing I know…. they will be forever in my heart. We may not be like before, we may have different companions now, but the fact that they’ve once touched my life will always remain in me.
I know what you mean sis. It’s doubly hard for our barkada because most of us have returned to our own hometowns, others already have jobs in other places in the Philippines. I am the only one abroad though but before I left, my friends and I had a party, some who worked in Cebu came home for the weekend. My wedding was a joyous occasion for us because all of us (even those already in Manila) came to my wedding. Alas, I wasn’t able to be with them because I was really busy with last minute preps.
Enjoy your friends sis. You know, things might not be the same as they were before but deep inside, you guys are still friends and believe me, when you meet up again, it would seem that 8 years didn’t pass by at all. 🙂
