They Said. I Wondered. But Followed.

I’m talking about old wives’ tales and superstitious beliefs. Every time people tell me these kinds of beliefs, I would secretly raise my eyebrows, and think… I followed some. I even tried. And some made me believed….

To predict the sex of a baby: Suspend a wedding band held by a piece of thread over the palm of the pregnant girl. If the ring swings in an oval or circular motion the baby will be a girl. If the ring swings in a straight line the baby will be a boy. I tried this. And the ring moved in a circular motion. I was happy. I’ve always wished for a girl. And my wish was granted. It doesn’t matter to me now whether the ring exercise was true… My wish came true anyway.

For a lucky bride – they told me to wear something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue. And I actually did. *wink* I worn my old wristwatch, I worn my new set of jewelries, I borrowed my friend’s handbag and I worn something blue inside… I therefore, conclude, from that moment on, I could still consider myself a lucky one – 3 years and counting, we are still happily married.

If the palm of your right hand itches it means you will soon be getting money. Huh? I never got some. I must’ve eaten something that made it itchy bwehehehe!

Knock three times on wood after mentioning good fortune so evil spirits won’t ruin it. I always do this, it became my habit. After 3 knocks, I say “touch wood”.
