First, let me share with you what Pasalubong actually means:
Pasalubong, in general, is a “gift for a relation or friend brought by” a “traveler returning from a trip,” and could also refer to “anything given as a gift to someone on the way home to a certain place.”[2] These returning travelers are known as balikbayan.[3] The term balikbayan, however, has in current times, been associated with overseas travel (as opposed to just travel to and from bayans or towns.)
My long time friend came home to spend a month vacation with her parents and siblings along with her family. She’s a Registered Nurse in London, settled there with her Filipino husband who works for British Airways and two children. Whenever she comes home, she never fails to bring pasalubong for us. Since I was here last year for my annual vacation, I was able and lucky to meet her with our former officemates {this was how we looked like 10 years ago hahaha!} and gave me a pink Lacoste wallet. This time she brought me these:
{a Kipling sling bag and Marks & Spencer Lotion + a perfume for my mom}
Along with the group and our kids, we went and dined out in Cocolime last night. Will share more photos as soon as I received it from them. It really feels good meeting old friends.
