Any old “baby” practice that you still follow i.e. putting thread on baby’s forehead when they have hiccups or letting your baby wear the black and red beaded bracelet to oppose bad eyes? I maybe one of the westernized or modern mommies of the year 2000 but my beliefs are mostly from the traditionally practiced that our grandparents and parents had introduced to us.
My eldest was born in Bahrain where beliefs are far different from where I was born, not to forget that my Indian national husband who also has a different belief or tradition to follow. But that didn’t stop me from letting both my daughters worn the known black and red beaded bracelet. Indians have also a similar one, but theirs is a combination of black and white in a form of bangles. Whatever shapes and colors they may appear, whether they would look like the wheel bearing rzr parts, the purpose is the same – to oppose bad eyes.

I haven’t really done any baby practice from the elderly except when I attempted to put a thread on the baby’s forehead she she got hiccups. It didn’t work to me though because the husband laughed at me saying there isn’t any sense at all. So I don’t know if it’s really working or not. LOL. I shared my child dedication experience for this theme. I hope it counts as a belief, since it’s been a tradition and a customary practice in our family. 🙂
Hope to see you at my page! 😉
I really hate the tradition on Usog.. but I did try that red and black beads on my first baby too 🙂
I can relate in that beliefs. My mother practiced as their children to inherit this culture ways to oppose bad eyes. Most of all here using that bracelet with corresponding shapes and colors. And that colors reflects its purpose and what are the uses. I’m done that beliefs because Russcle now is turning into 4 year old. I have of peace of mind when were having a road trip for a vacation to a place where not familiar to bad eyes.
