Last week, I had my GCT (Glucose Challenge Test). I know it’s too late but it wasn’t my OB’s fault, I actually have forgotten about it.
I reached the lab at almost 9am, was given a cup of not-so-good juice and had to wait for another hour before they could take a sample of my blood. Good thing they have lots of health magazines (that also talks about on proper prescription medication) and I even saw a couple of Good Housekeeping mag displayed on the rack. That somehow made me busy for the whole hour of waiting.
At exactly 10:05, I went to approach the nurse again as instructed. Sat for a while before the sample of blood was taken from my left arm.
I noticed that the blood coming through was dark red, so dark that you won’t even know it’s blood. I had to ask. The nurse gladly explained why. Oh! Forget it, I don’t remember a single medical term she said haha!
Before I left the clinic, I took a leaflet with me about some helpful tips when you are taking your child for a lab test.
