Photos are treasures. The day my desktop crashed, I almost cried. Funny but I realized I have saved all the photos I had over the years since I had a digital camera in CDs. Now that I own an external drive, I make sure everything is safely stored and archived in it.
In the old days, photos faded and some slides lost due to calamities like flood. This happened to me once and I learned. With today’s computer technology, keeping the treasures is no longer as difficult as constructing style buildings. If you have the budget, you can actually invest for another external drive and keep copies for added insurance that in case your back up gives up, you have another one. Sure thing it could sometimes bore you to death while copying the files but at least your photos are safe and sure to still reach the next generation to see.
