Today, we finished at school at around 11am then went straight to Perpetual Help and had my ultrasound done. Since it was already lunch time, I asked Ate Deye where she’d prefer to have lunch. Thank God she didn’t say “Jollibee” instead she suggested “Wimpy’s”.
From where we were, we are much closer to EBB branch but I thought we’d go to this newly renovated branch in Magsaysay Ave. As we were about to get ii, I saw another lady who is also pregnant entered the resto before us. I didn’t see any sign/note that the resto was closed due to a private function so we went ahead and saw yellow and orange balloons everywhere. There was a private luncheon going on and we were told that normal operation would be at 1pm and that was more than half an hour more. So to save from embarrassment, along with the other pregnant lady we politely asked if we could just order something, at least a burger and sit in the corner since not all the chairs were occupied.
They were sorry to tell us that they don’t serve items from the menu as yet, but one lady came to us in a different uniform so I assumed she was the Supervisor. Looking at us, both pregnant, she must’ve felt sorry if we won’t get our food on time, plus with a little girl beside me, holding on to my jeans looking hungry. She welcomed us with a smile on her face and said “Ma’am, just join us and feel free to get your food from the buffet, anyway you are our customers”.
Of course with a smile still stuck onto my face after getting the good news, I felt much better. An invitation as such would really lighten up someone’s day, to think it’s free of charge. She made it clear it’s on the house.
We, still with the other lady, then decided to just share a table. She asked Derelle’s name and Derelle answered politely “Derelle”, since she’s always shy with questions like these and couldn’t speak up, I repeated “Her name is Derelle”. New to her ear she asked me “How did you come up to that name?” I said it’s a combi of my name and my husband’s. My name is Michelle and hubby’s Derrick”.
Guess what? Her name is Michelle too. Yup, the other lady I was referring to. She smiled and said “And her husband’s name is Erick” And the most amazing part, we share the same due date, Feb 14, 2010 hahaha! Great coincidence huh? The only thing that didn’t coincide was she’s having a boy and I am having another girl. Well, who knows they could be good friends someday.
Of course, we exchanged cellphone numbers and promised to keep in touch whoever gives birth first.
What a great day! Oh I almost forgot, the Supervisor gave Deye an orange balloon!
Anyway, now off to do Business job search for a friend.
