21 years ago, July 16, 1990, a 7.7 magnitude quake has almost totally wrecked Baguio City. I was an incoming sophomore at that time and originally planned to take up college in Baguio. But with what happened, I changed my mind.
Last May of this year, I personally met Kuya Pedrito Dy, a good friend of my cousin, Ate Pinky, who resides in Baguio and learned that he was the last survivor found at the Hyatt Terraces. It was actually him who brought the topic that he was one of those few who managed to survive, that he remained buried in the ruins for 2 weeks and only hope kept him alive. It was really a pleasure meeting him (photos here) face to face with so much positivity that if you believe in Him, nothing else will go wrong.
Hear from him his survival story.
With such a short meeting, I felt his kindness and sincerity. A very humble person with a golden heart to help people in any way. I know it. I experienced it first hand but will no longer elaborate the details. No questions asked why he had given another chance to live his life to the fullest.
Thank you, Kuya Pedrito, for always guiding my girls and I!
Hi! i just saw your page. May I know where I can visit Mr. Pedrito Dy? Just want to talk to him regarding our study. Thanks in advance.
Hi Abie, I will ask him first if I could give you his contact number.
Hello Miss Mitch! Would it also be possible to get in touch with Mr. Pedrito Dy? I’d like to interview him in connection to my thesis. Thank you!
