I got over excited seeing buy 1 take 1 apples in the supermarket last week. So I grabbed 2kgs and they are now sitting in the fridge, about to rot. These apples were supposed to be pureed for Elric, but it looks like his little stomach and young digestive system still do not like apples as part of his regular meals. Therefore, this momma needs to find a way so that they won’t go to waste.
Yesterday, I made apple pies, McDonald’s inspired. I could’ve done the authentic way of baking an apple pie, but I was not in the mood to make my own crust. Something that requires kneading isn’t just for me.
Ingredients:
1 loaf of sliced white bread
1/2 cup butter
4 pcs whole apples, sliced into small pieces
2 tsp cinnamon sugar
2 tbsp honey
2 pcs whole eggs for coating
Breadcrumbs for coating
Cooking oil for frying
Here’s how:
Melt 1/2 cup butter on your pan on a slow fire.
Add in the sliced apples.
Sprinkle 2 tsp of cinnamon sugar, and pour in the honey.
Mix until well-combined, still on slow fire.
Set aside.
Grab your sliced breads, and do the same as how I made the Pizza/Bread Rolls here. The only difference is that we are making it this time with apple fillings. See notes in red below:
Skip Step 2.
In Step 3, fill it in with the apple slices that you prepared prior, and continue with the steps up to 7.
Continue with Steps 4 onwards. And that’s it! The kids loved it and already requested that we make another batch very soon. Though I feel that something still needs to be improved. Perhaps make it more caramelized next time, or blend it a little. We’ll see! For now, enjoy and let me know when you tried it.
