MANILA, Philippines – The Indian government has relaxed its visa rules, effective first day of this year, to attract more Filipino visitors as Philippine Airlines (PAL) launches its service between Manila and New Delhi on March 27, 2011.
“We are extending our visa-on-arrival facility to Filipinos starting January 1, 2011,” announced Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in the recent 8th India-ASEAN Summit in Hanoi, Vietnam. Citizens of three other ASEAN states, Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam, will enjoy the same relaxed visa rules.
PAL’s new service to New Delhi will operate six times weekly, with three non-stop flights between the two capitals and three flights routed via Bangkok.
The Delhi inaugural will give PAL presence in South Asia for the first time since 1994 a milestone for the Philippine flag carrier, just days after it celebrates its 70th founding anniversary on March 15, as Asia’s first airline.
